Picard 252/52 Cross Pein Finishing Hammer - Straight Pein

The Picard 252/52 is a light finishing hammer with an extra wide, thin round face and a straight cross pein. It weighs 330 g (12 oz) with its 300 mm handle.

The thin, wide face spreads each blow over a broad area, so it is the hammer for the last passes of hammer and dolly work, where you are dressing a panel rather than moving metal. The narrow 14 x 3 mm straight pein gets into swage lines and body creases.

The head is Picard alloyed special steel, hardened and tempered, and finished in Picard's blue hammertone enamel. It sits on a dual-curved hickory handle with an octagonal grip, fixed to the head with Picard's ring wedge. Picard has made hammers in Germany since 1857.
