Picard 252/48 K Planishing Hammer - Checked Face

The Picard 252/48 K is a large face planishing hammer with a 46 mm checked round face and a 40 mm smooth square face. It weighs 500 g (18 oz) with its 320 mm handle.

The checked (waffled) face is a shrinking face: used over a dolly on stretched metal it gathers the panel back up. The large smooth square face planishes the area out again afterward.

The head is Picard alloyed special steel, hardened and tempered, and finished in Picard's blue hammertone enamel. It sits on a dual-curved hickory handle with an octagonal grip, fixed to the head with Picard's ring wedge. Picard has made hammers in Germany since 1857.
