Eastwood Power Hammer: Elite 22 Inch HD (74217)

This Eastwood power hammer is a 22-inch reciprocating machine with a 1.5 HP motor, variable speed from 0 to 960 blows per minute and a tooling package of more than 38 pieces. It runs on a standard 120V, 15-amp circuit, and works up to 18-gauge steel and 16-gauge aluminum.

The hammer has two modes. Sprung mode damps the blow for stretching and shrinking, and rigid mode gives the hard punch that beading and similar forming need. Light and heavy spring sets are included to tune the sprung action for thinner or thicker sheet. The stroke is 1/4 inch, and the throat is 22 inches deep and 15.5 inches high.

Eastwood's engineers put the effort into setup. A front-mounted handwheel lets you cycle the tooling and check clearance from the normal working position. The lower tool post is indexed for repeatable alignment, the tooling carries laser-etched alignment marks, and the lower tool posts are replaceable, so tooling you use often can stay set up.

The tooling covers planishing, stretching, beading, louvers and domes: steel and nylon radius dies from 3/4 inch to 36 inch, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch bead sets, 1/16 and 1/4 inch offset step sets for flanges and joggles, a louver set, doming tooling, a linear stretching anvil and universal tool holders. A 12-inch fence, foot pedal and e-stop post are part of the machine.

Assembled it measures 21.5 x 29.5 x 71 inches on a 32 x 18.5 inch base and weighs 460 lb, so plan on a lifting device rated for at least 400 lb to assemble it. It ships by LTL freight, and Eastwood lists a 3-year Eastwood Elite warranty.
